Flood disaster usually strikes City of Jakarta in 10 or 5 year flood and its showed in year 2002 and 2007. The impact of flood disaster is worst.  Many buildings are damage, lost and injure of human life, and break the city properties.   However, nowadays flood disaster hits Jakarta more often even-though in small scale, but its impact are un-expected and worst. For this situation, City of Jakarta should have an-understanding regarding emergency and people awareness facing flood disaster. In these terms, city of Jakarta means people and its infrastructures.  Based on flood disaster occurs, flood can be divided into three stages such as before the flood, during the flood and after the flood. The best time to protect from flooding is before the flood. People aware and prepare against the flood in form of prevention and preparedness. When people of Jakarta hear flood warning means Jakarta is an alert condition, flash flood can happen. This disaster situation threats people of Jakarta. In addition, emergency response should be done based on their flood information, flood guidance of city of Jakarta and people   act to save their lives.

Study of protection from flood for people of Jakarta identified their behavior and built flood proofing In addition, result of this study showed that people of Jakarta still need guidance on how to protect from flood in form of standard operating procedures, dissemination information and training based on flood stages i.e. before, during and after the flood. Four series of books on how to deal with floods were designed.
