There is no doubt that polymer materials are really part of our daily life and without them around, this world would be totally different. Now, polymers are well recognized from simple plastic bag into very complex and sophisticated materials and applications such as for artificial muscles or blood vessels, fuel cell membranes in producing the electricity, reinforced materials in space shuttle, etc.

Seeing as polymer materials have been integrated in and truly influencing in the human life for better future, it follows that the research, development and innovation in synthesizing, modifying or functionalizing polymer materials from nanometer scale level are progressively amplified around the world.

Taking the opportunity of a very successful meeting on Innovation in Polymer Science and Technology 2011 (IPST2011) in Bali and Innovation of Polymer Science and Technology 2013 (IPST2013) in Yogyakarta, organized by the Indonesian Polymer Association (HPI), it is our great honor to organize and hold the coming IPST2016 meeting on November 7 – 10, 2016 in Medan, North Sumatera, Indonesia.

IPST 2016 covers the topic of Biomass Based and Biodegradable Polymer, Advanced Rubber Process and Technology, Nanostructure and Composites, Polymer in Renewable Energy Technology, and Synthesis and Functional Polymers.

With a natural beauty spreads from the magnificent Lake Toba, the biggest lake in Southeast Asia, to the jungle of Bukit Lawang, which orang utans make their home, North Sumatera is a very worthwhile place to be visited and hosting IPST 2016. As the capital city of North Sumatera, Medan also has an iconic landmark and elegant heritage site, called Maimun Palace. It is a beautiful architectural artwork which richly combines many styles including Islamic Malay, Spanish, Indian, and Italian features.

The Conference is anticipating around 250 participants around the globe and it will provoke Plenary Sessions, Keynote Speech, Poster and Oral Presentations.
